Opinel No.07 Stainless Steel Folding Pocket Knife, 3.15 Inch Blade, Beech Wood Handle, Virobloc Lock, Made in France
- Description
The Opinel No.07 Stainless Steel Folding Knife is the French pocket knife in its original form: a 3.15-inch Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel blade, a handle of varnished, PEFC-certified beech wood from eco-managed forests in France's Jura and Vercors regions, and the Virobloc locking ring. Slightly smaller than the No.08 and a bit bigger than the No.06, the No.07 is often called the perfect picnic knife. It slices cheese and fruit with ease, and the stainless blade needs very little upkeep.
Why stainless? Opinel uses Sandvik 12C27 modified, a martensitic stainless steel hardened to 55-57 HRC, for its stainless folders. It is optimized for both corrosion resistance and edge performance, resists abrasion well, and needs no special maintenance in ordinary use. Long contact with acids, salt water or detergent can still mark it, so rinse and dry it after a day on the water. It is the low-maintenance choice for fishing, picnics and humid climates.
The Virobloc safety ring was patented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. Twist it one way to lock the blade open while you work, and the other way to lock it closed so it cannot open in your pocket.
- Blade: 3.15 in (8 cm), Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel

Care: Wipe the blade clean and dry it after use. Hand wash and dry right away. Do not soak the knife or put it in the dishwasher, which can damage a wooden handle.
